Comment:

 If the "component" selector in the ticket query tool would support "begins
 with" in addition to "is" and "is not", at least this part would enable
 some sort of subcomponent support, in that you could find a component and
 all subcomponents, provided you`d do "comp1.subcomp1" or similar schemes.
