[Trac] Why does Trac use SQLite for Wiki?

Why would that be a problem? So you will end up with a dead link.
In general, flexibility comes at a cost - the proverbial "rope to hang
yourself." To take the example to the extreme, what prevents me from going
into trac's project directory and deleting 'trac.db' file...

Why wouldn't it be? It can still have web interface. For example, it might be
easier to use your favorite editor to create a base page and then use web
front end to do updates and community-changes.
