[Trac] trac.ico usage?

I still have no clue what the icon setting in the [project] group of 
trac.ini really does. The trac.ico file is present in my Trac setup, but 
I have not seen this icon anywhere on the Trac GUI. However, I noticed 
errors in the trac error log on the server indicating that trac.ico is 
not present in my repository.

Does that mean that I should add an icon into my subversion repository, 
and trac uses it from there? But according to the error log, trac seems 
to look for it in several folders of the repository.

Has anyone more information on that?
